Vinyl Siding
June 30th, 2010I would first like to point out the fact that vinyl siding has the ability to throw or keep water out so it is imperative to use a good exterior house wrap like Tyvek Home Wrap before proceeding with the installation of siding. Be sure to seal all openings and through the shell of the house and be sure to follow recommended practices specially manufactured to seal around doors, windows and vents mounted on the wall as they are the most common source of loss of points.
Then I cover the concept of “hang” your new investment. If you’ve ever noticed a job that appears wavy vinyl siding in the summer is likely to think “cheap siding.” If so, you were wrong. Covering problems are often attributed to defects or poor quality product when it is most often a bad installation. When properly hang your new siding and trims remember three things. First you should never drive the nail firmly against the coating. Secondly make sure that the nail head is flat or parallel to the facade, if it hits at an angle that could force the sides and not allow it to float. Thirdly make sure it is located in the center of each slot. As you should already be putting the drive nails into the studs you can find aliening not the center of the nailing slot. They offer a slot-cutting tool in each center of origin. Buy one, you can thank me later. If you follow these tips in each section to be able to grab any piece of cover and slide from side to side. This movement will ensure your flooring is not bound between two points and be flexible when it expands on a hot day.
Start the coating process by installing all products trim them first to ensure adequate separation where siding meets trim. You will hang all the decorations in the same way, with one exception. It is common practice to drive a solid end so the MIC do not float around. Just as an example to install an outside corner, start by nailing both sides at the top in place for strong finish not depart from your soffit finish. Then proceed to fix the rest of the corner by the method of nails to hang the rest of the way so that the corner can be moved on a hot day. Follow this practice with all the trimmings other ensuring that anchor the final best not to move. The exception to this process is in the field of undersill garrison. This is the finishing strip fitted to the top of any horizontal course to finish the lining to the ceiling. Since this setting can be run as the length of a single piece that we want to keep all the loose ends so that all the pieces together can expand on a hot day. Complete this process through the installation of any accessory block to be used for items such as faucets, lights, or outdoor containers.
You should now be ready to start hanging siding. I have not covered the topic of leveling course starting or lower here because my focus is on installation errors often overlooked and I hope they understand that and the need to start with a level of performance. That said, to determine a starting point and assess in which direction most often sought in the lining of the walls in a die. Once you have determined that beginning with his first piece of siding at the opposite end. This way your back will face the far less seen by both, not opening holes that shows more joint public hearing. This is another common installation error. Make sure you are distinguishing between the manufacturers recommend the end of siding and trim on the basis of the ambient temperature at the time of installation. This will take into account the expansion that occurs when the vinyl siding is heated in the hot sun.
If you follow all these guidelines, as well as all the manufacturers recommended installation guidelines can be sure of a project that will be proud of for years to come. No matter if you bought a product thinner or heavier product on the market, proper installation does the job.
